Necklaces unlocked

So I happened to be back on Etsy looking at things, it's my weakness, and I came across some amazing skeleton key necklaces. Here are some of my favorites.

This one is to die for. There is a pretty good chance I will be buying it. Look how amazing it is. I love the length of the chain and how long the key itself it. So great.

I love how there is a "pocket watch" with this tiny key. Such a great piece. It looks so vintage and has just the right amount of tarnish affect.

I chose this last necklace because the key looks so old! It seems impossible that it doesn't have tons of history attached to it. While the chain on this one is not as long as the first, I think that this fits it perfectly.

Success Story 1: Guy shoes

For about the past 4 months the bf has been shopping around for new tennies. (Unless you run in them, they are tennies.) Collectively I don't even want to think about how many pairs we've looked at. It should be noted that there were many requirements for these tennies. Couldn't be flashy, no funny straps, no weird colors, converse-like...and the list went on. Here are a couple that were on the list:

PF Flyers made a recent comeback. They will forever be awesome in my eyes because Benny wore them in The Sandlot.

I suggested these ASICS, they come in tons of different color options, but he wasn't sold.

I immediately noticed this pair of tennies at Aldo but the bf, always the skeptic, wasn't loving them. I suggested trying them on and giving them a chance. I now have my first official success story to report on this blog! Behold, the coolest tennies I've seen all year.
They have the coolest texture that makes it look like chain mesh. It's hard to describe, but they are awesome.

Side note: I tried to get him to wear the shoes in this picture but he declined. So, this picture will have to suffice.

Back in SF

So I'm back after my quick work trip to Vegas. Although I saw some pretty fantastic fashion tragedies there, I was not able to capture them on film. Sorry. I'm sure you are all disappointed. I was able to snap this picture of the Valentino window as I was shopping. I think these 2 dresses are to die for.

I took the display as a sort of play on a bride and groom. I think the styling is fantastic.

Flowers everywhere!

I have recently become obsessed with hair accessories. While on my hunt for new ones, I came across some fantastic headbands and hair clips while browsing Etsy. (By the way, Etsy is a fantastic site to find random, awesome things.) I purchased 2 headbands from 2 different sellers a couple weeks ago. Both are amazing.

Here are some new things that I'm currently investigating as potential purchases.

The green color of this flower is so great. It's very vintage to me. Jewels or rhinestones can get tacky real quick on accessories but I think these work well.
To purchase or look around, go here.

Ok, so this headband might be for little girls but I don't care. I like the color on this one too and think that it would be a great addition to an outfit. If you have dark hair, it'll look just like a hair clip.
You can visit her store here.

I stumbled across these adorable clips the other day. And yes, I bought them. Don't worry. My order was slightly different than this one so you can get your own. (I ordered mine on a bobby pins) I adore the styling of the "petals" and how they look so delicate. And the colors! Can we just have a moment for these colors??
You can visit her store here. I highly recommend it!

I want summer shoes now!

It's so hot here, by San Francisco standards, and I am dying for some summer shoes. The problem I'm facing is that all the ones I like, are 4 inches or more. I don't want to be in shoes that high all day.

For those of you that aren't worried about that, here are some cute shoes that I've found so far.

I am pretty much in love with these shoes from Chinese Laundry. They are so casual and cute. Going to have to visit Nordstrom to see if they fit.

These shoes by Børn are so great with the flower detail. Some people might not like that, but I happen to be a fan of flowers as accessories. So these are a yes for sure! (they have about 4 other adorable color options too!)

Naughty Monkey (best name ever) has a fun pair of gladiator-ish sandals. I think they are fantastic. Great color combo.

I may be partial to these because I own them, but they are quite fab and very comfy might I add.

UPDATE:
I received a question about the Børn shoes in regards to the appearance of elongating the leg. Here is my response.

Some of you may know that I am NOT a fan of shoes with ankle straps. They cut off your leg and make you look stumpy. However, these shoes have 2 major things going for them.

1. open toe sandal
2. large flowers

I hate a shoe with an ankle strap with a closed toe. Terrible. These have an open toe AND flowers. Perfect. Long legs for everyone.

Maybe in another life...

I can afford this AMAZING work of art that I drool over every time I see it.

Although this is technically not clothing, this is in fact a major style piece. There are 3 different color options but this one is my favorite.

High five to Mr. Andy Warhol for such an amazing print.

Jessica Simpson...I'm going to have to go with, no.

I have defended Jessica Simpson in the past when people talk about her and say how fat she's gotten or how bad she looks. Leave the girl alone. But when she does nothing to help herself, I can't defend her. I can't.

This is a perfect example of someone that doesn't know how to dress their body. And why on earth is she wearing those shoes with that dress?! Horrible.

And just to jog your memory...

Yes those are high-waisted mom jeans.

I'm thinking dresses

Over the past 12 months or so, my dress collection has more than doubled. I think the reason is probably the amount of time it does NOT take for me to get dressed or plan an outfit. Any time I can save in the morning is a plus. Dresses are so easy and fun, everyone could use more.

Here are some that are currently on my radar.

I kind of love this dress in yellow and black. But I must say that the stupid shoelace looking "belt" must go.

All I have to say about this one is, fun. Put some cute summer wedges with this and game over. Love it.

I plan on buying this dress by the end of the week. Totally right up my alley.

I bought this same dress last year in cobalt blue and it is wonderful. I think I'm going to have to grab this one in black.

Is it obvious that I love a full skirt? So cute! And the strapless one may not be great for work, but it's great for weekends and vacations.

Fab finds: Banana Republic

I went to Banana last night because I had a coupon for 40% off one item. I didn't even use it. They had a sale going on that was awesome. Here is a rundown of what I saw. And sorry boys, there wasn't much of a sale happening for you.

Dresses: The dresses were a little too Holiday for me. Most of them looked like you could wear them to a Holiday cocktail party. If you need that sort of dress, then good for you. I don't. The other dresses I saw were bad, clingy fabric. Fabric seemed to be viscose. Not a fan.
*Side Note* I don't know why Banana has suddenly decided to explore cheapish fabrics and still charge a fortune for the garments. Boggles my mind.

Pants: They had a combo of work slacks, jeans and casual pants. None of which caught my attention. None that were on sale at least. I did come across a pair of black matchstick pants that were to DIE for and I need to make a trip back with my 40% off coupon to snag them up!

Sweaters: They had some cute ones and some truly heinous ones. I bought a great black, scoop-neck sweater with cute detailing around the neck for $18! It's mostly wool, so it might be itchy for some.
*Side Note* The sweater I bought is more expensive online. Why, I have no idea. I would also like to mention that the online picture doesn't do it justice.

T-Shirts: Forgettable.

Shoes:
Forgettable.

Skirts: Adorable! And tons of them! I bought this super cute skirt and I love it. It's super comfy and has pockets. For me, pockets on a dress or skirt are a dream. Can't get enough of them. Plus, I really like the fabric on the skirt (mostly cotton). I definitly plan on wearing it in warm and cold weather.
*Side Note* The skirt is also more expensive online. So weird.

Jewelry: I didn't get to take a really good look at the jewelry but there was a TON of it on sale. I did see lots of turquoise.

My recommendation would be to go to the store. It appears to me that that's the place to get the real deals. Just an observation...

Product shout out: Dior Show mascara

A good friend of mine asked me what mascara I use. I have tried more mascaras than I am willing to admit and I finally found one that I love: Dior Show.

If you were to look in my make up bag, you would only see MAC products. I am a devout MAC client. I have tried at least 3 of their mascaras and wasn't impressed. One day I went to the MAC counter for some other products and the salesperson asked if there was anything else I needed. I said that I needed mascara but was not interested in theirs. To which she replied "me either." She walked me over to the Dior counter and handed me Dior Show and said that is the best mascara she has ever used. Very impressive. I can honestly say that I completely agree with her. If you need mascara, this one is awesome.

Helpful tip: The first time you use it, wipe the wand clean and then use it. That was what she told me to do. Also, put on 2 coats. Your eyelashes will go on for days!

Attention boys...Summer is fast approaching

And I love all the cool and comfy options that are out there. Plaid shorts and t-shirts are some of my favs.

I love these shorts in particular. I first saw them in a flyer that I got in the mail and I think they are great. Such a cool, easy and versatile staple for Summer.

These slip-on Vans-style shoes are awesome. Such a nice light color for Summer with the ease of being a slip on for comfort.

I happen to be a fan of t-shirts that have phrases on them. There's just something about them that can really help an outfit and make things less serious. It's Summer. Live a little.

Listen up guys. If you need to fance up your "day look" a little bit, throw on a shirt like this one and you're good to go. Button down shirts with shorts is definitely a look that is under utilized.

And just in case you need an accessory that works with everything...

I hope this helps some, boys. I'm looking out for you too.

Shoe Porn: Christian Louboutin

I went to New York for work a couple of weeks ago and stumbled across this gem. Yes. I was posted in front of the store windows for a good 15 minutes. I'll take those gorgeous black patent leather strappy heels, k thanks.
Enjoy!

Ritchie Rich inspired

While I was reliving my childhood and watching the movie Ritchie Rich, yes with Macaulay Culkin, I couldn't help but think of all the great pieces that J.Crew has right now that reflect the idea of this movie. Here are some of my favorite "Ritchie Rich" pieces.

I just adore these gold flats with the cutest puff detail.

So I had originally planned on posting these black pumps with silver glitter heels but I'm over them now. I'm kind of obsessed with these. They aren't the typical gold you would associate with a "Ritchie Rich" post, but I think these have a pristine look to them. That color is to die for. And they're on sale!

I know this is just a "little black dress" but I really love the detailing on the bodice. I also think it would work for many different body types. It has a bit of a forgiving design. Not to mention also provides a great canvas for a fabulous necklace.

I think this necklace is so perfect for the dress above. Thoughts??

So I listed 2 pairs of shoes because sometimes I can't decide if I want to be my height or tall. I have people who I have helped shop that have different thoughts on heels as well. This way, you get the best of both worlds.

Hope you are finding your closet to be full of richly inspired clothing.
